Matthew is a Partner at Blue Ocean Technologies, LLC responsible for all aspects of technology from software development to infrastructure deployment. He has spent more than twenty-five years building pioneering electronic trading, order management, execution management, algorithmic trading and matching engines, as well as large-scale real-time market data distribution platforms.
Over the course of his career, Matthew worked extensively across all financial services sectors, ranging from retail banking, insurance, buy-side, sell-side, retail trading, as well as extensive start-up and consulting organizations. He has been recognized as an instrumental leader, building one of the first global electronic trading platforms as a Managing Director for Bear Stearns, with direct NYSE and Nasdaq integration. This platform was pivotal in transforming Bear Stearns’s equities business from paper and voice based to being fully automated from external clients, through execution and settlement. He was also a key technology contributor for many other firm-wide architecture and collaborative technology efforts.
Matthew’s passion and creativity in this space carried him through similar large development and transformational efforts at Citigroup and TIAA Investments.
Notably, Matthew became a Partner and CTO for KnowVera, LLC, designing and developing a high-end trading strategy tool. After successfully integrating the product with dozens of major third-party order management systems and market data platforms, he moved to E*TRADE, where he was responsible for all core trading technologies, reporting to executive management. For the past two years he has consulted extensively for Raymond James and Wells Fargo Securities, deploying firm-wide real-time data stores as well as cutting-edge high-availability trading system designs. Matthew takes enormous pride in being able to run technology as a true business, understanding all aspects of being a client, customer, trader, sales-trader, quant, software developer, project manager, and infrastructure engineer. His depth and breadth across industry and skill sets create a perfect intersection point for Blue Ocean’s strategic goals.
Matthew graduated from the State University of New York with a B.S. in Computer Science, with heavy focus on Economics and Math. He is the proud father of two daughters, devoted husband, and passionate musician.
